Dr. Robert Ward

Dr. Robert Ward serves as the Director of Choral Activities at Emporia State University where he conducts the A Cappella Choir, Tallgrass Chamber Choir, and the Emporia Chorale.  Along with his conducting duties he teaches courses in conducting and choral methods.  Robert holds degrees from Oklahoma State University, B.M. and Southern Methodist University, M.M. in music education and a D.M.A. in choral conducting from the University of North Texas.   As an educator, Robert taught middle and high school choir in North Texas, including eight years at The Oakridge School in Arlington.  In that time he became interested in emerging teaching philosophies and their potential impact in music.  Robert presented twice at the Texas Music Educators Association on these topics focusing on motivation and technology.  While a graduate student Robert served as the conductor of the SMU Concert Choir, taught undergraduate conducting at UNT, and served as the assistant conductor of the Fort Worth Chorale in Fort Worth, Texas. Robert continues to perform as a singer and has performed with the Orpheus Chamber Singers, the South Dakota Chorale, Taylor Festival Choir, Texas Choral Artists, The Choral Pickup, and Vox Humana.
